15.11.2019 | 72 HOURS LIVE: RADIO HOSTS BREAK WORLD RECORD
For three days and nights, Ariane Alter and Sebastian Meinbeger from the YouTube channel “Das schaffst du nie!” hosted a live talk show, setting a new world record. From Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019 until Friday evening, you could watch live on ARD alpha and in the BR-Mediathek. In addition, the show was streamed on the YouTube channel of “Das schaffst du nie!” where it recorded a total of 1.8 million views.
Under the motto “Every hour a bit smarter” as part of the ARD theme week “Future Education,” Ariane Alter and Sebastian Meinberg had the goal of delivering a challenging TV program in addition to persevering. More than 80 guests were on the show, including scientist Harald Lesch, astronaut Suzanna Randall, hosts Sonya Kraus, Stefan Gödde and Jeannine Michaelsen, celebrity chef Ali Güngörmüs and many other celebrities from science and the media.
There was always at least one guest on the show, because at least 40 minutes per hour had to consist of talk with guests, according to Guinness rules. During the entire show, no question could be asked twice and the audience had to be changed every four hours.
The presenters were given a five-minute break every hour, which they could accumulate for a longer time-out – so if the show ran for three days, they could accumulate six hours. Nevertheless, none of them slept for more than 2.5 hours at a stretch. During the entire show, Ariane Alter and Sebastian Meinberg were under medical supervision and kept themselves fit only with wake-up drugs such as coffee, cola, energy drinks and electrolytes.
